Product Designer

Full-Time · Platform Team · Newcastle (UK)

The Role

At SoPost, we’re on a mission to build the most powerful product sampling platform in the world. Our technology enables many of the world’s most recognisable brands to run highly effective product sampling campaigns online, giving away a sample every second.

Founded in 2012, SoPost employs over 40 people across three hubs: our technology team of software engineers and UX/UI designers are based in Newcastle (United Kingdom), while our commercial and partnership teams are located in both London and New York. We are active in 14 major markets across EMEA and North America.

Our growth trajectory has been significant and this year we ranked in the top 50 of the Sunday Times Tech Track 100. While we know we have come a long way, our ambition extends well beyond where we are now and we’re looking for amazing people to help us achieve it.

As Product Designer, reporting to the CTO, you will be responsible for delivering design solutions to the highest quality, enhancing the platform experience for all stakeholders and users of the product.

You will be responsible for delivering discrete components of larger projects, as well as seeing smaller projects through to completion independently.

You will work collaboratively with others to design interfaces, build prototypes, and engineer improvements to SoPost's product and tooling. Communicating your design decisions clearly to others on the team will be a big part of your success at SoPost.

The successful candidate should have skills in product design, interaction design and prototyping; as well as the necessary technical skills to work with others to bring your designs to life.

  1. Understand the issues identified in research and empathise with users' goals and tasks to produce design solutions.
  2. Produce design solutions through artefacts such as sketches, user flows, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, as well as working alongside others to build and develop vital parts of the interaction to production standard.
  3. Understand how your design should be tested to ensure that it can meet business goals and hit KPIs.
  4. Have a strong understanding of accessibility and how to ensure that your designs meet the appropriate standards and guidelines.
  5. Defend the user and be able to articulate and communicate the rationale for your designs;
  6. Experience with design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Suite and InVision.

Raw skill is always preferable to time served but it would be advantageous if you've already spent a few years in a professional creative position. As a bonus, it would be great if you had:

  1. Experience using HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
  2. Experience in designing, delivering and maintaining design systems used at scale.
  3. Examples of designing SaaS, or similar products – any analytical and data visualisation UIs would be welcome.
  4. 2+ years' experience in the design industry – working on a product or for a startup is a plus!

The offer made to you will be dependent on experience.

Holidays and Benefits

Participation in Annual Bonus Plan and SoPost pension scheme.

Social events (monthly team lunches and quarterly drinks / team building activities)

The hiring process may change slightly depending on a number of factors. It is generally a multi step process as indicated. If you pass one stage, you will proceed to the next. We try to give feedback to you if your application is unsuccessful but this is not always possible.

We believe that the successful recruitment for any role at SoPost is as much about giving you the opportunity to find out as much as possible about us and our company as it is about us finding out about you and your capabilities. We want you to be as excited about joining SoPost as we are about being here!
