The Role

Founded in 2012, SoPost employs over 50 people across three hubs: our technology team of software engineers and UX/UI designers are based in Newcastle (United Kingdom), while our commercial and partnership teams are located in both London and New York.

At SoPost, we’re on a mission to build the most powerful product sampling platform in the world. Our technology enables many of the world’s most recognisable brands to run highly-effective product sampling campaigns online, giving away one sample every couple of seconds.

The main responsibility of the Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Test Engineer will be to build and deliver comprehensive, robust and reliable, automated testing to provide full coverage of the product and feature requirements. Taking the lead on instilling QA best practices and principles across product and engineering teams, you will be working collaboratively with Product Managers, Engineers and Designers to champion quality.

You should be able to identify deficiencies in the product, suggest solutions to problems, and perform manual testing of the product through structured and exploratory testing. You’ll ensure that automated and manual approaches to functional and non-functional testing are embedded in the development of the product. This should include, but not be limited to, testing for compatibility, performance, security, functionality, accessibility, and usability.

Reporting to the Head of Product, with a dotted line into our Software Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will need to maintain knowledge of the latest technical test tools and apply them to the correct areas of the product, ensuring all testing is executed in line with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

It will be the Lead QA Test Engineer’s responsibility to assess the work of other QA Test Engineers and coach and mentor their development in the role.

Skills

Essential

The ideal candidate would be proficient in multiple automated test scripting languages and tools such as JavaScript, Python and SQL.

  1. Worked in a modern software/product development environment, testing web-based software applications.
  2. Performed manual testing of products through structured and exploratory testing.
  3. Worked with automated testing tools like Selenium, Cypress, TestCafe, Jest, Serenity BDD.
  4. Proficiency with software QA methodologies and related tools and processes, such as white box and black box testing.
  5. Experience with continuous integration and delivery using Git.
  6. Exposure and knowledge testing APIs and web services.
  7. Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills to champion quality across teams.

Optional

Although not absolutely necessary, we would love to see applicants with any of the below skills.

  1. Experience with Agile/Scrum Methodologies (TDD, BDD) and tools like JIRA.
  2. Has led and mentored other senior QA engineers.
