Interaction Designer

Platform Team · Newcastle · Full-Time

The Role

Used by 100+ brands around the world, including the biggest and most prestigious beauty and cosmetics companies, SoPost's product has been used to deliver over 1 million product samples to people.

As an Interaction Designer in the Platform team and reporting to the Head of Design, you will be responsible for delivering discrete components of larger projects, as well as seeing smaller projects through to completion independently. You will work collaboratively with others to design interfaces, build prototypes, and engineer improvements to SoPost's product and tooling. Bringing delight to users through your designs in a way that delivers business results, and communicating your design decisions clearly to others on the team will be a big part of your success at SoPost.

You will have skills in product design, interaction design and prototyping; as well as the necessary technical skills to work with others to bring your designs to life.

You will:

  1. Be able to deeply understand the issues identified in research and empathise with users' goals and tasks to produce design solutions;
  2. Be able to produce these design solutions through artefacts such as sketches, user flows, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, as well as working alongside others to build and develop vital parts of the interaction to production standard;
  3. Have a strong technical background using, but not limited to HTML, CSS, and Javascript;
  4. Be able to understand how your design should be tested to ensure that it can meet business goals and hit KPIs;
  5. Have a strong understanding of accessibility and how to ensure that your designs meet the appropriate standards and guidelines;
  6. Defend the user and be able to articulate and communicate the rationale for your designs;
  7. Have experience with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Suite and InVision;
  8. Have 2+ years' experience in the design industry – working on a product or for a startup is a plus!

As a bonus, it would be great if you could demonstrate:

  1. Experience in designing, delivering and maintaining design systems used at scale;
  2. Examples of designing SaaS, or similar products – any analytical and data visualisation UIs would be welcome.
