The Role

SoPost is looking for an HTML and CSS Engineer to help us build the most powerful product sampling platform in the world.

Used by 200+ brands around the world, including the biggest and most prestigious beauty and cosmetics companies, SoPost's platform has been used to deliver over 2 million product samples to people.

As an HTML and CSS Engineer in the Design team in Newcastle, you'll be reporting to the Head of Design. You'll be responsible for building user interfaces that are responsive, accessible, and will bring joy to the people that use them. You will work closely with UX and Interaction Designers to translate mockups into user interfaces that work across all of our supported browsers, and then be able to work alongside Programming Engineers to bring your HTML and CSS prototypes to life.

Skills

Essential

You will have strong experience and knowledge building user interfaces for the web, and will be able to demonstrate the following:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of HTML and CSS
  2. Experience in building responsive web interfaces that work across mobile, tablet and desktop for all of our supported browsers
  3. An understanding of W3C standards
  4. An ability to translate designs into usable and accessible web interfaces to a high standard
  5. Experience using browser-based animation
  6. Strong ability to learn
Skills

Optional

As a bonus, it would be great if you could demonstrate two of the following:

  1. Knowledge of Interaction Design and User Experience
  2. Experience in working with design systems at scale
  3. Experience with Git
  4. Experience with JavaScript, or even frameworks such as React
  5. Experience working with templating in web frameworks, e.g. Ruby on Rails, Django, Phoenix, etc.
  6. Experience working from a backlog using the Scrum methodology
The

Salary

£20-25K D.O.E.
This is the starting salary bracket, and we will review it when you have completed the probation period. We can be flexible for the right person. The offer made to you will be dependant on experience.

Holidays and Benefits

You'll get 23 days holiday plus bank holidays a year. Once you have been here for three years, we'll give you an extra two days holiday allowance per year.
